After Effects Massage Therapy & Bodywork

MASSAGE ETIQUETTE
Whether it's your first massage or it's been a while since you've had bodywork, there are some fundamental protocols to scheduling a session with your Massage Therapist.

-
Shower before your session, if possible. If your feet smell, are unclean or have fungal infections, they will be avoided.
-
Reschedule before your departure.
-
After your session, leave honest feedback on Facebook, Instagram or Google.

ARRIVE EARLY

Avoid eating a full meal just prior to your session. Consider that parking, using the restroom, discussing your concerns and areas to focus on and undressing all occur before your session. Allow time in order to not feel rushed or have an abbreviated session. Text your therapist if you're running late.
SILENCE YOUR PHONE

Your session is devoted to providing space for you be present in the moment, become aware of any resistance to letting go and surrendering to releasing tension, as well as embracing surfacing emotions. The interference of technology is counterproductive.
REMOVE JEWELRY

Removal of jewelry, activity trackers and smart watches prevents malfunctions and the collection of massage lubricants that can harbor future bacteria and require cleaning or repair. Necklaces, in particular, impede fluid movements when doing neck work.
UNDRESS TO YOUR COMFORT

Professional draping exposes only the region being addressed during treatments.
Disrobing to your comfort level is always your prerogative. Clothing should not be restrictive.
COMMUNICATE

Let your therapist know
-
Your preference for music or silence
-
Any allergies or areas to be avoided
-
if you are hot or cold natured
-
If you need temperature adjustment during the treatment
-
If you need more or less pressure
-
If you need to use the restroom
HYDRATE

Manipulating muscles releases substances. Drinking water after your massage helps the body flush out any accumulated materials that were released during the massage.
